Hopefuls
These are the four Prime Minister hopefuls here at home. One of these four persons; Hon. Portia Simpson -Miller, Dr. Karl Blythe, Dr. Omar Davies or Dr. Peter Phillips will be Jamaica's Prime Minister at least for a short time until the next election. I can't help but wonder what each will bring or take away from our little nation that will make such significant differences in such a short time. The two names that one has been hearing consistently are "Portia" and "Peter Phillips". Whether or not either is successful will be determined at a future date.
Right now we the common people kinda just hope that they don't destroy civil Jamaica during their campaigns.
Jamaicans tend to be really passionate about their politics so........take it easy people.
Have a great day you all.

Well this seems to be the year of women in Politics. Liberia first female President, Chile, first female president. So I gonna root for one of the women in JA politics.
Think I should hold my tongue... cos my opinion might actually be exceedingly inflammatory in nature.
*zipped lips*
So I take it PJ quitting? I haven't been following much so tell me who for which party. When is elections?
Well, with the series of events after Peter Phillip's rally yesterday, not much hope for no destruction of civil Jamaica. I have no confidence in any of the candidates. Politians are politicians and they are all the same. I had a cousin who entered about 2 years ago and quit last year because of the level of corruption and begging/bowing that had to take place just to get a simple little thing done.
Think Phillips will get the nod but the polls are showing Team Portia to be very strong.
I deliberately stayed away from the who will win statement. Kami, They all belong to the People's Natinal Party (PNP). Elections are slated for 2007 but the current PM and leader of the PNP is leaving as you said so one of these persons will be his replacement as leader of the party and as PM until the next election.
sorry folks that should read People's National Party (PNP) in my comment.
guess i missed something, when pj stepping down and why?
Jdid, the current PM announced several years ago that he would not be at the head of the party to take them into the next election. He announced his intended retirement at the last PNP conference I think.
campfyah, don't forget germany as well. i'm not quite sure she's their first, but they do have a female chancellor now. :)
